Buenbit

Buenbit is an Argentine-based cryptocurrency neobank with a B2C business model, 400k MAU range, and +1M registered users from multiple countries of South-America.

My role in UX/UI

I worked for two years with the customer and growth squad as UX/UI designer. During this period It was my primary responsibility to deliver intelligent and informed solutions that would enhance the usability, accessibility, and user value of every function, feature, or iteration of the digital product. Using my expertise, I led kick-offs, brainstorming and hand-off sessions that enabled teams to validate smart solutions for every project.

The challenge

By Q1 2021, the company's OKR was on, developing into one of South America's most significant and secure neobank in the CeFi & DeFi sector.

To accomplish the OKR, across all the squads and teams were set two KPIs:‍

  • Increasing the MAU to 200K by Q4 2021
  • Growth the total of registered users to 1M by Q1 2022

My contribution to get things done and achieve more than the expected metrics was:

  • Adhere the mobile app experience and interface to all applicable laws and norms in order to meet global KYC and AML standards as well as cybersecurity standards. This it means align with several stakeholders to set the right lost of requirements during the flows.
  • Move all websites to Webflow infrastructure and system in order to cut down on the time required for designing, testing, and building new websites.

Business impact

  • By enabling cybersecurity features such as pin password, biometric authentication, 2FA, anti-phishing code, and authorized device, decreased the number of hacking effective attempts by 300% in the first month and increased power user trust sense.
  • Migrating all websites and landing pages to Webflow increased the production time and UI level of the entire web experience and reduced the overload on the development team to build and iterate the web interface of the product by from 2 members (1UXD + 1FE) to 1 UXD member.
  • Making the app experience and interface more compliant with all applicable laws and norms related to GDPR, KYC, and AML enabled all the users to have a positive and fully compliant experience while keeping company liability positive at front auditions, certifications, and regulations.

Reflections

  1. While working as a UX/UI on two different squads at once I was able to communicate, connect, and talk with people from different organizational levels, including legal, business, product, development, marketing, brand, and C-level which allowed me to gain a thorough understanding of every operational aspect and nuances necessary for a neobank to be successful.
  1. Working in the tech industry taught me the value of cross-disciplinary design in facilitating communication between departments, ultimately impacting product usability and performance.
